⭐️ Florida Native Trees

⭐️ Florida Native Trees FOR SALE

Native trees have several appealing advantages over exotic trees in landscape applications. First and foremost there are few if any problems in the successful growing of native trees with respect to climate, soils, insect pollinators and providing habitat for native fauna. Being able to observe a cultivated plant in the wild provides direct information about its habitat, morphology and biology. Cultivating native plants often generates new information about their growth requirements which can make a positive contribution to the general knowledge of the particular plant. Botanical studies have shown that there are about 325 native Florida trees, which represents the greatest tree diversity of all the 50 states. A typical garden commonly consists of a mixture of native and exotic trees, selected to showcase particular types of foliage or flowering trees. Given Florida’s native tree diversity, and the ready availability of many native trees in the nursery trade, it is possible to design a garden which consists solely of native trees and shrubs. Such a native garden can be as beautiful as any garden with exotic trees, and represents a point of pride honoring the lush and varied vegetation of the state. For the purpose of selecting specimens for a native tree garden, it is convenient to consider them by the categories of evergreen, deciduous and palm species. Examples of evergreen trees with colorful flowers includes Limber Caper (Capparis flexuosa) which has glossy green leaves and unusual flowers; Pitch Apple (Clusia rosea) a handsome foliage tree or shrub; Sea Grape (Coccoloba uvifera) with its dense foliage and purple fruits and Seven Year Apple (Genipa clusifolia) which produces flowers and edible fruits all year. Candidate deciduous trees are Cinnecord (Acacia choriophylla) with its open crown and puff-like yellow blooms; the semi-deciduous Pond Apple (Annona glabra) a medium-sized aromatic tree; Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) bearing soft feathery needle leaves and Satinwood (Zanthoxylum flavum) grown as a tree or shrub with attractive foliage and fragrant blooms. Native palms contribute foliage diversity to a garden; for example the Pauroitis Palm (Acoelorrhaphe wrightii) a dense, spiny, clustering fan palm; the Silver Palm (Coccothrinax alta) a tall single-trunked, spineless with costapalmate leaves and the Keys Thatch Palm (Leucothrinax morrisii) a slender, solitary, palmate palm and the Silver Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) a low spreading palm which can serve as a ground cover.

Treeworld has an inventory of more than 70 native trees, including those mentioned above, from which to select the best plants for landscaping any residential, commercial or public location.
