All trees are flowering trees in the botanical sense, but the phrase in landscaping generally refers to those trees which bear conspicuous, showy flowers. Three major factors should be considered when selecting a flowering tree. 1) Evergreen or deciduous. Does the situation call for an evergreen, like the Bull Bay (Magnolia grandiflora) or deciduous, like Royal Poinciana (Delonix regia) 2) Flower color. There is a rainbow of color options in flowering trees including the snowy White Geiger (Cordia bossieri), the sunny yellow of the Golden Shower Tree (Cassia fistula), the sky blue of Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia) and the rich pink-purple blooms of the Hong Kong Orchid Tree (Bauhinia x blakeana). In the choice of several flowering trees for a garden, it is possible to select trees that flower at different times to provide color over an extended period. 3) Size and shape. The choice of tree size should be made with proportion in mind and consideration for the dimensions of mature specimens. A small yard and house is best suited for a modest flowering tree of 20 feet or less. A large house and yard makes larger trees an option. An important factor in flowering tree selection is whether the tree can be readily pruned to maintain it as a small tree, if so desired. The Pink Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia heterophylia) is an outstanding flowering tree that can be maintained as a small tree by pruning or allowed to grow freely if space permits. Shape is another consideration, especially if space is limited. Some flowering trees spread to a distance equal to their height, such as Joewood (Jacquinia keyense), while others are upright and narrow like Dahoon Holly (Ilex cassine).

Treeworld Wholesale has a wide choice of flowering trees, including those mentioned above, from which to select the best application to landscape a particular residential, commercial or public location.
