Tabebuia Heterophylla (pink trumpet tree) is a moderate sized tree 20 to 30 feet tall. It has an irregular, oval, open crown, narrowing toward the top, and rough, silvery-gray furrowed bark. Moreover, the leaves (and flowers) are variable on the same tree, as suggested by the species name. Additionally, the dark green leaves, are palmately compound. Also, the leathery leaves are opposite or sub-opposite on the branch. The leaves have oblong or oval leaf edges. They are also entire or undulated and 6 to 12 inches long.
Moreover, the showy pink flowers are borne in clusters at the branch ends. The trumpet-shaped flowers are about 3 inches long. Pollinators include hummingbirds, bees and other insects. Tabebuia Heterophylla flowers produce a pink carpet of petals beneath the tree. Furthermore, the fruits are narrow, cylindrical, green ripening to brown. The dry, bean-like capsules measure up to 8 inches long.
