Description

Tabebuia Caraiba (Yellow Trumpet) tree description

The Tabebuia caraiba (Yellow Trumpet) is a small tree native to Brazil. It is just one of several Yellow-flowered Tabebuias. Additionally, it grows to a height of 15 to 25 feet. Moreover, the trunk and branches are contorted. The crown is dominated by 2 or 3 major branches, giving the crown an irregular oval shape.

In addition, it has silvery deeply-furrowed bark. The leaves are dark green, silvery, palmate and compound. Leaves consist of 5 leaflet. The leaflets measure 7 to 11 by 1.5 to 2.5 inches. Importantly, the leaves drop just before flowering begins. Finally, flowers are terminal clusters of many trumpet-shaped golden yellow blooms. The blooms are 2 to 3 inches long. Furthermore, the flowers attract Hummingbirds, bees and other insects.
